Come celebrate Redeemer’s beloved Bonnie for her 70th birthday! She is also leaving for a couple months to visit home in Jamaica, so we are doing a Jamaica-meets-Southern-culture theme! We will provide fried chicken and all ya’ll can provide southern sides. Bonnie needs to try more of our fare because I (Rachel) took her out the other day for fried green tomatoes and she loved them! Dawn and I will attempt to make my house decorated to mimic a fine Jamaican paradise. Please come! It’s a feast day in Lent, so you can eat the CAKE!

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the season of Lent. Lent is all about preparing for the celebration of Christ's resurrection through fasting, prayer, and generosity.

Throughout the Old Testament, ashes are used as a sign of sorrow and repentance, and Christians have traditionally used ashes to indicate sorrow for our own sin and as a reminder that the sin always leads to death.

But while we are marked with ashes, that marking takes the form of the cross, reminding us of the life we share in Jesus Christ. Therefore the ashes of Ash Wednesday call on us to hold in tandem the weight of our sin and the glory of our redemption. It is in this sure hope that we begin the journey of the 40 days of Lent, that by hearing and answering our Savior's call to repent, we may enter fully into the joyful celebration of his resurrection at Easter.

We welcome you all to join us at Redeemer Anglican Church for this service that has so powerfully worked in the Christian community for thousands of years.

Come celebrate Fat Tuesday and all things breakfast and carbohydrate to beef up before the great fast of Lent starting on the very next day, Ash Wednesday! Bring pre-cooked bacon, sausage, eggs, fruit or whatever you feel like! We will make pancakes and fill in food gaps!

Whether you like either team or just want to watch the commercials, let’s get together! All are welcome at this casual gathering of friends.

Bring your own beverage and side to share - bonus points if it relates to either Kansas City or San Fransisco!

We’ll have games for the less sports-inclined.

Pastor Greg will lead a brief instructive meeting on how to serve as an acolyte during the service. Acolytes help with the movements of the cross and setting the communion table.
